Emma Hughes wins Gold!

Congratulations to Emma Hughes who swims with Ballina Swimming Club. Emma trains for over 9 hours per week and towards end of the school term Emma had qualified for the Irish National Division 2 Championships which where held in the University of Limerick with 96 clubs and over 870 athletes taken part in July.

Emma qualified to swim in 7 individual events but decided to enter into 6 events, the 100m Freestyle, 50m Freestyle, 400m Freestyle, 200m IM (individual Medley), 200m Butterfly and the 100m Butterfly.

Emma Had a very successful weekend of swimming achieving personal best times in all 6 events and making two finals where Emma took home a national Gold medal for the girls 100m Butterfly and a National Silver medal for the girls 200m Butterfly event.

Well done to Emma and her mentors at the Ballina Swimming Club.
