Best wishes to Clodagh Gill who has been selected to represent Ireland at the upcoming European Youth Olympic Festival to take place in Banska Bystrica, Slovakia and will run from the 25-31 July 2022. This is a tremendous honour for Clodagh - to represent Ireland and compete in this illustrious competition.
Clodagh’s journey this point has been one of incremental improvement borne out of patience and dedication. Clodagh is a member of a dedicated training group in Moy Valley AC under the guidance of club coach Phillip Finnerty. Philip takes a differentiated approach with all athletes and leaves no stone unturned when it comes to preparation. All the other athletes in this group support each other and now that Clodagh has made this break through, this achievement will be celebrated.
Club athlete Joanne Loftus was a trailblazer in recent years with her performances in Moy Valley and Irish singlets. Joanne continues to be a great mentor for Clodagh as she makes the transition through the various levels of athletics. Clodagh, in turn, is proving to be a great mentor for her training colleagues.
We wish Clodagh all the best in Slovakia and look forward to the next phases of her journey in athletics.
Clodagh will compete in the 3000m in European Youth Olympics tomorrow morning in Slovakia at 09:23 Irish time. The livestream can be viewed at
