Good morning and welcome to the Ceiliúradh CEIST, an inaugural day of celebrating CEIST and its 107 schools nationwide. CEIST hopes that this day going forward will be the start of an annual nationwide school celebration and awareness of our CEIST community and of the great work happening in our schools.
Huge thanks to everyone in St. Mary’s who have done great work over the last few days to remind all of us of the history of the school, the legacy of the Mercy sisters and the great work of CEIST in continuing this legacy over the past 15years.
Well done to TY students Ella Douglas and Ciara Farrell who designed a superb poster which encompasses CEIST and Mercy symbols to celebrate the last 15 years. See attached.
A special thank you to the RE team who have worked on many initiatives including getting students to cut out footprints with the core values of CEIST reflected on each one as understood by our students. The footprints leads to the tree in the foyer which is the tree of gratitude for all the things we are grateful for in school everyday. The idea of the footprints is no matter where we are going or what we are doing in school we all walk the same path. Also, In Religion classes this week there is a focus on the story of St. Brigid and how she reflected the Values of CEIST in her lifetime. This includes students making St Brigid's Crosses.
CEIST has produces a CEIST Charter Prayer – The Calling. We would hope that as a school faith community we will use this prayer for future staff meetings, Assemblies etc and we will include it in the school journals going forward.
Finally, see link below Ceiliúradh presentation which is just over 6 minutes long. We would hope that this presentation will be used with classes and school community to give a sense of why we are celebrating this day and also to give a sense of what and who CEIST is.
